CoAS Sigdel Issues Directive for Peaceful Conduct of HoR Election


Kathmandu: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel has issued a special directive to ensure that the upcoming March 5 election to the House of Representatives is conducted in a peaceful manner. Addressing a special event organized at the Army Headquarters today on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and the 262nd Army Day, CoAS Sigdel extended his best wishes to all personnel of the Nepali Army.



According to National News Agency Nepal, during his address, CoAS Sigdel instructed army personnel of all ranks to effectively discharge their respective duties, including playing a crucial role in maintaining peace during the election. The directive emphasizes the importance of the army’s role in ensuring a peaceful electoral process, as stated by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army.



Furthermore, CoAS Sigdel highlighted the importance of teaching the history of Nepal and its people during the training of soldiers. He stressed that understanding the nation’s history, traditions, and culture would be beneficial for the soldiers. He instructed the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangements for incorporating this aspect into the training program, as reported by the Directorate.



In another program today, CoAS Sigdel paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He visited the Bir Memorial at Chhauni and Sainik Manch (Army Pavilion) Tundikhel to offer his respects to the fallen soldiers. Additionally, he honored the families of the martyred soldiers at the Bir Memorial at Chhauni.
