Kathmandu: House of Representatives (HoR) session chair Arjun Narsingh KC has emphasized collaboration and coordination in maintaining political stability, good governance, and the rule of law.
According to National News Agency Nepal, in his address to the first meeting of the HoR today, Chair KC remarked that the HoR election held on March 5 has yielded significant results, reminiscent of the first-ever parliamentary elections held in 2015 BS. He stressed the necessity of overhauling the governance system to meet the expectations of the people.
KC noted that the public holds high expectations from the newly-formed HoR, viewing it as a beacon of hope. He emphasized that people are hoping for reforms not only in government operations but also in the culture of governance.
Congratulating Prime Minister Balendra Shah and members of the Council of Ministers, KC, the senior-most member of the HoR, described the 100-point reform program unveiled by the government as a positive initiative.
During his address, KC underscored dialogue, consensus, and tolerance as the foundation of democracy, stressing the importance of constructive collaboration between the ruling and opposition parties. He chaired the newly-formed HoR as the senior-most member of the House, given that the election for the Speaker is yet to be conducted.
