Kathmandu: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, has announced that some bills will be tabled before the federal parliament within the current fiscal year.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gautam shared this information while responding to queries raised by lawmakers during the discussion on ‘Appropriation Bill, 2083’ in the National Assembly meeting. She mentioned that efforts to determine the list of essential laws are underway.
Minister Gautam emphasized that the government has prioritized concluding the remaining process of transitional justice. She noted that necessary budget allocations have been made for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.
Furthermore, Minister Gautam clarified that a separate fund has been established by the government to provide compensation to victims. Drafts for the ‘Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons Regulations, 2083’ and ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission Regulations, 2083’ have been prepared and are awaiting approval from the council of ministers.
