Kathmandu: Chairperson of the Shram Sanskriti Party (SSP), Harkaraj Rai, has stated that while constitutional amendments are possible, the fundamental framework of the constitution should remain unchanged. Speaking at today’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, Rai emphasized the significance of maintaining the core structure of the constitution amidst any amendments. He highlighted the potential risks and challenges that could arise if the importance of this issue is overlooked.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Rai expressed gratitude towards the government for its efforts over the past 100 days in promoting good governance, curbing corruption, and delivering effective public services. He acknowledged the progress made by the government in these areas and encouraged continued focus on these initiatives.
During his address, Chairman Rai also shared his observations from a recent visit to the Mahakali region, urging the government to expedite the construction of the Darchula-Tinkar road. He stressed the importance of prioritizing national pride projects, especially in border areas, to enhance infrastructure and connectivity.
Rai further called on the government to address the issue of squatters and those residing in unorganized settlements by providing them with land ownership documents. He suggested that prompt action be taken to rehabilitate these communities, ensuring their security and stability.
Additionally, Chairman Rai proposed elevating the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan to university status and advocated for the decentralization of health services to improve accessibility and efficiency in healthcare delivery.
