Kathmandu: At least 933 workers are believed to be trapped at around six hydropower projects in Nepal following last week’s devastating floods.
According to Nam News Network, Anadolu Ajansi cited the country’s disaster agency as stating that the Disaster Management Authority is actively engaged in rescue efforts to reach the stranded workers. Relief operations are ongoing in the flood-hit areas, as reported by Al Jazeera.
The catastrophic floods have led to widespread destruction across Nepal, damaging roads, bridges, and other vital infrastructure. The floods have also cut off access to several of the affected regions, complicating rescue and relief efforts.
In addition to the rescue missions, search operations are underway to locate individuals reported missing due to the flooding and landslides that have impacted parts of the country. Authorities are also evaluating the extent of damage inflicted on hydropower facilities and other crucial infrastructure.
