Tatopani Border Reopens for Limited Three-Day Period

Tatopani:The Tatopani border point in Sindhupalchok district, which connects Nepal with China, has reopened for a three-day period starting today. This temporary reopening aims to facilitate the import of goods ahead of Dashain, one of Nepal’s major festivals.

According to National News Agency Nepal, cargo vehicles began entering Nepal early in the morning from the Xizang Autonomous Region of China. This development has brought relief to traders and businesses that had been eagerly awaiting the resumption of cross-border trade.

Dipendra Prakash Giri, Chief of the Tatopani Customs Office, stated that the Chinese side agreed to reopen the border point for three days to ease the supply of festive goods and other essential commodities into Nepal. Buddha Raj Basnet, President of the Sindhupalchok Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that containers have been lined up in the Liping and Kodari areas on the Nepali side. Meanwhile, more than 45 containers are waiting to enter Nepal from Nyalam county in Xizang.

The Tatopani border had been completely closed by the Chinese authorities from August 31 until further notice, making this temporary reopening a significant development for local trade.
