Accra:Myagdi The Dana-Rahughat section of the 220-kV Kaligandaki Corridor transmission line in Myagdi has resumed operation after being out of service for 21 days due to damage from a landslide and river encroachment.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Nepal Electricity Authority restored the section temporarily by utilizing an emergency restoration system (ESR) tower. This allowed one circuit of the transmission line to be charged starting Saturday night.
The flood had damaged four towers in the Annapurna rural municipality of Myagdi district. Towers numbered 21, 23, and 24 were completely destroyed, while tower number 22 suffered partial damage. The disruption had caused 170 MW of electricity from five private hydropower projects, connected to the national grid via the Dana sub-station, to be disconnected.
With the transmission line back in operation, the power generated from these projects is now reconnected to the national grid. The transmission line, extending approximately 130 kilometers, runs from the Dana sub-station in Annapurna rural municipality-3 to the New Butwal sub-station in Sunawal municipality-13 of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta west), passing through Parbat, Baglung, Syangja, Palpa, and Rupandehi, with a capacity to transmit 1,200 MW of electricity.
