Kathmandu:Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) exported electricity worth over Rs 5.92 billion to India during the month of Ashoj, which spans from mid-September to mid-October.
According to National News Agency RSS, the August 26 flood disaster, which impacted hydropower production, had briefly disrupted the power export. However, the export was subsequently increased in Ashoj. Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, the executive director at NEA, noted that despite the earlier disturbances in power supply, the transaction amount saw growth during this period, with nearly two-thirds of the total cross-border supply being made according to a bilateral agreement.
Additionally, the government resumed the export of 40 MW of power to Bangladesh via the Indian transmission line. NEA reported supplying over 630 units of electricity to India in Ashoj, generating an income of Rs 5.92 billion.
Furthermore, the electricity supply to Bangladesh was resumed last Friday after being disrupted due to the Bhotekoshi flash flood on August 26. This glacial disaster had damaged the Trishuli and Chilime Hydropower plants, which are authorized for power export to Bangladesh.
