Dashain Festival Attracts Over 20,000 Tourists to Chitwan National Park

Chitwan:A total of 20,087 tourists visited Chitwan National Park during the Dashain festival holidays, marking a significant influx of visitors to the area.

According to National News Agency RSS, the resumption of jeep safaris on October 9 contributed to the surge in both domestic and international tourists. The park’s Information Officer, Ganesh Tiwari, reported that of the total visitors, 11,891 were Nepalis, 7,365 were international tourists, and 831 were from SAARC member countries.

Visitors to the park came to observe its rare wildlife, including the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, elephants, bears, and crocodiles, along with a variety of bird species. The park generated Rs 17.3 million in revenue from these visitors. While jeep safaris within the national park are typically suspended during the monsoon season, safaris continue in the buffer zone and community forests.

Tourists experience the national park by riding in jeeps, and recent sightings of the rare Bengal tiger have further increased interest in the park safaris, Tiwari added.
