Hetauda:Minister for Education and Sports, Sashmit Pokharel, has called on educators and universities to ensure that academia remains relevant by aligning with market demands. He emphasized the importance of considering market needs while developing university curricula.
According to National News Agency RSS, Minister Pokharel made these remarks during a seminar titled ‘Strengthening of Higher Education in Nepal Management and Coordination of Provincial University’ held in Hetauda on Thursday. He stressed that stakeholders, including educationists and universities, need to address demands such as youth employment.
He further highlighted the need to clarify the role of the University Grant Commission concerning the establishment and affiliation of provincial universities.
In related discussions, Prof Dr Chandramani Poudel, chairman of Bagmati University, mentioned that the university has developed a curriculum that is both timely and relevant, providing education that meets these standards.
Additionally, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Kiran Thapamagar, expressed that graduates should not only seek employment but also contribute to societal needs. He advocated for educational institutions to connect more closely with social requirements.
