Langtang Valley Trek Reopens With New Alternative Routes

Langtang:Langtang Valley Trek has reopened after the completion of alternative paths, enabling trekkers to once again enjoy the scenic routes. The reopening follows the significant damage caused by the Bhotekoshi flood, which affected the Pasang Lhamu highway and infrastructure in the Syaphrubesi area.

According to National News Agency RSS, new trekking routes have been established with safety considerations in mind for trekkers. This development has brought relief to locals who are pleased that the world-famous trekking route, previously obstructed by the flash flood in the Bhotekoshi river, is now operational.

The construction of safe alternative routes was made possible through the efforts of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal and local authorities. These routes allow tourists to reach Bambo, Lama Hotel, and Langtang village from Dhunche via Thulo Bharkhu, Brabal, and Thulo Syaphru.

Dindu Jyangba Tamang, Chairperson of Gosainkunda rural municipality-4, highlighted that despite the damage caused by the disaster, the alternative routes are now safe. Tea houses, hotels, and local entrepreneurs are ready to welcome tourists back to Langtang Valley. Tamang emphasized that the influx of both domestic and foreign trekkers would be vital for revitalizing Langtang’s economy and aiding the economic recovery of the disaster-affected indigenous Tamang community.

Although the natural disaster had impacted local tourism and livelihoods, there is excitement among tourist guides, poachers, and local businessmen with the reopening of the alternative trekking routes.
