Hetauda:Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Kiran Thapa Magar, announced that the region is preparing to introduce temporary employee quotas to tackle the shortage of human resources in health institutions across the province. This initiative was revealed during the inauguration of a province-level integrated annual review of health programs for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS.
According to National News Agency RSS, the Chief Minister stated that the Organisation and Management Survey for the health sector has been completed, and employees will be managed based on necessity. He highlighted the current shortage of workforce impacting hospitals, district public health offices, and facilities for Ayurved and alternative medicine within the province. The implementation of temporary quotas aims to ease service deliveries across these sectors.
Chief Minister Magar further noted that a mere 4.5 percent of the province’s total budget has been earmarked for the health sector. He emphasized the challenge of operating 13 province hospitals, 13 Ayurved and alternative medicine facilities, and 13 district public health offices with limited budget and resources. Additionally, he pointed out the expansion of specialist services in province hospitals, including the allocation of funds for establishing a ‘cath lab’ at the Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences to enhance cardiac care services.
The health program review event was organized by the Province Health Directorate in Hetauda.
