A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for raping a child in Bagatipara upazila of the district in 2011.
Judge of the district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Muhammad Abdur Rahim handed down the verdict to Dulal Hossain, 31, a resident of Chaipara village of the upazila.
The court also fined him Taka 50000, the court sources said.
According to the prosecution, on July 2 in 2011, the convict brought the child at his house and raped her.
After the incident, the victim’s grandfather filed a case with Bagatipra Police Station. Police pressed the charge sheet on July 16.
Testifying witnesses and evidence, the court gave the order, said Special Public Prosecutor advocate Anisur Rahman.
