Ghorahi: An Agriculture Produce Sale Centre established at Ghorahi sub-metropolis-15 has freed farmers from the hassles relating to access to market. Consumers are also benefitted with the agricultural products at cheaper prices.
According to National News Agency Nepal, farmers in the district previously had to sell their agricultural produce, such as vegetables and fruits, on their own. However, with the establishment of the Sale Centre, they now only need to transport their products there, relieving them of market-related worries, as noted by local resident Sarita Khadka. She remarked, “The vegetable price is cheaper, and it is fresh in the Centre compared to other shops. The Centre has facilitated both consumers and farmers alike.”
Farmer Amar Chaudhary from Ghorahi sub-metropolis-2 shared his experience, stating that he has been involved in commercial vegetable farming on 10 kattas of land. He revealed that he can earn over Rs 35,000 per month from his vegetable farming, with products like cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, and chilies now sold through the facility.
Similarly, Srijana Chaudhary of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-7 mentioned that she is also benefiting from the facility. As a farmer, she appreciates the opportunity to sell her produce through the Centre.
To utilize the facility, each farmer is required to pay Rs 15 daily and has the option to set up their own stalls within the Centre. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Chairperson of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-15, observed that the operation of the Sales Centre has saved time for both farmers and consumers. He added that consumers receive fresh products while farmers obtain a good return on their investment.
