An all-party meeting in Inaruwa, the district headquarters of Sunsari, has agreed to keep the social harmony intact, resisting all possible challenges from outside, towards that end.
The District Administration Office on Monday organised the meeting with the participation of various religious leaders, representatives of political parties, and the people’s representatives. The participants in the meeting pledged to contribute from the respective sides to promote social harmony and religious tolerance in the district, according to Chief District Officer, Ramchandra Tiwari.
The meeting also issued a public appeal urging one and all to play a role in promoting religious harmony and tolerance. Besides, the meeting agreed to organise any sort of religious meet or gatherings except the celebrations of traditional festivals in absence of the permission from the district administration. The meeting was summoned in the context when demonstrations are taking place in various parts of the country, demanding a prompt e
nd to ‘assaults’ on a ‘certain’ community in Bangladesh.
Likewise, the meeting agreed to increase surveillance along the border and prevent undocumented entries from third countries.
