Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Inter
College Football Tournament-2023 has begun at Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium of the
town here this afternoon.
District administration and District Sports Association (DSA) have jointly
organised the tournament at the directives of the Ministry of Youths and
Sports of the Government.
Additional deputy commissioner-General Sushanta Kumar Mahato formally
inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.
Principal of Gaibandha Govt College Professor Khalilur Rahman, additional
police super Md Ibrahim Hossain, additional general secretary of DSA Rokibul
Islam Riton spoke at the function, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC-General Sushanta Kumar Mahato in his speeches
said through this tournament the youth of the country would be able to know
Bangabandhu and his contribution to achieve the independence of Bangladesh.
This tournament would also play role in building efficient players who would
push forward the football game towards desired goals, he added.
Later, the inaugural match was held between Sundarganj D W Govt Degree
College and Sadullapur Govt Degree College of the district.
In the match, Sundarganj D W Government Degree College beat Sadullapur
College by 1-0 goal.
As many as 16 colleges of the district are taking part in the tournament,
said Alamgir Hossain, district sports officer.
