South Asian Chess Council Championship begins
from Wednesday (June 14) in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, said a press
release.
FIDE Master Mehdi Hasan and FIDE Master Mohammed Abdul Malek of Bangladesh
are participating in the open category and woman candidate Master Jannatul
Ferdous and Woman FIDE Master Wadifa Ahmed are participating in the women’s
category.
South Asian Chess Council member countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan,
India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will compete in the meet.
International chess arbiter and Int’l organizer Md Haroon Or Rashid of
Bangladesh will act as the technical director of this event and Int’l chess
arbiter Dharmendra Kumar of India will be the chief arbiter.
Both group games will be played in round robin league format.
