Bharatpur:The Bharatpur Metropolitan City has achieved significant progress in its underground electrification project, providing electricity services to 460 customers through a newly established underground power distribution system. This development is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s electrical infrastructure.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the underground electrification project, managed by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has seen substantial advancements, with Chief Engineer Ananda Subedi of the Pokhara-Bharatpur Distribution System Project confirming that installations are actively underway. The project is nearing completion, with line connections pending for only three out of the total 18 feeders.
The initiative aims to deliver electricity to 1,240 clients’ homes within the Bharatpur Metropolitan City. As per Subedi’s report, the project has achieved 95 percent progress to date. The total cost for implementing this project is estimated at Rs 140 million, with an initial budget of Rs 130 million, later supplemented by an additional allocation of one million.
The construction contract, backed by the Asian Development Bank, was awarded to India’s Tata Projects Limited in 2021. The project was initially set to be completed by January 20, 2024, but the deadline has been extended multiple times to accommodate ongoing work.
