Birendranagar: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has called for support to establish a socialist republic. Addressing the first convention of the Young Communist League Karnali Province Committee, Dahal emphasized the party’s commitment to socialism and announced plans to accelerate their campaign.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dahal criticized the government for allegedly discriminating against the people of Karnali Province by removing the ‘Karnali Prosperous Programme’ from its upcoming fiscal policies and programs. He highlighted past efforts by the Maoist Centre government to enhance Nepal’s reputation internationally.
Dahal, a former Prime Minister, asserted that the CPN (Maoist Centre) prioritizes the prosperity of Karnali, which he referred to as the historic center of the Nepali revolution. He advocated for constitutional amendments to ensure inclusive representation of marginalized communities, including Dalits, women, Madhesis, Tharus, Muslims, and indigenous nationalities. He also called for a governance system with a directly elected executive head to replace the current costly electoral system that he claims does not represent the people.
The conference sees participation from 718 representatives from the wards of 10 districts in Karnali Province.
