Kathmandu: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has emphasized that the full implementation of human rights is essential to enhance inclusive democracy and social justice. In a message delivered on the occasion of the 77th Human Rights Day, Dahal argued that neither a civilized and prosperous society nor a true democracy can be achieved without social justice.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dahal highlighted the critical need for addressing transitional justice as a fundamental aspect of human rights. He underscored that delivering truth and justice to conflict victims is both a political and moral obligation. “It is our responsibility to ensure that conflict victims receive justice, and transitional justice is concluded in a timely manner,” he stated.
Dahal pointed out that despite the inherent right of individuals to live dignified lives, significant portions of society, including Dalits, women, indigenous peoples, Muslims, Madhesis, and other marginalized and oppressed communities, continue to experience discrimination perpetuated by State mechanisms. He described this situation as concerning.
He further remarked that the meaningful participation of these communities in the system is crucial for fostering an inclusive democracy and upholding human rights.
