Dangbung: The Dangbung trekking route in the Ramprasad Rai rural municipality has become a bustling path for tourists recently. Known locally as rhododendron or “laligurans,” the route is drawing visitors with its natural allure.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the scenic beauty along the route captivates visitors. Tourists are not only enchanted by the national flower, rhododendron, and picturesque meadows but also by the local organic cuisine offered by indigenous communities. Jagdish Rai, a local, noted that tourists are eager to experience the natural beauty and enjoy dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. He expressed delight at the increase in tourist numbers, attributing it to the construction of the trekking path, which has enhanced the area’s appeal.
The trekking route offers stunning views of iconic peaks like Sagarmatha, Makalu, and Kanchanjungha, along with various ridges. Even the southern plains are visible from this hilly terrain. Jogendra Rai, the Ward No. 1 chairman of Ramprasad Rai rural municipality, stated that the route was developed to promote both domestic and international tourism while conserving the national flower, laligurans. He revealed plans to further develop the area as a significant tourist destination.
Rai emphasized the potential boost in tourism activities and its link to the national economy, noting that Rs 7 million has been invested in constructing the trekking route. The path, created under the Nepal climate model programme, spans 7 kilometers and is set to be extended to include religious and tourist sites.
Future plans for the route include establishing homestays, connecting to the broader Mundum trekking route, and integrating places of historical importance.
