Kathmandu: The Christian community is celebrating the Christmas festival, commemorating the birthday of Jesus Christ today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Christ was born in Bethlehem, Israel. The day is being observed in memory of Christ’s message of hope, love, and salvation, as stated by the Chairman of the Nepal Christian Federation, CB Gahatraj. He mentioned that the day is also recognized as the love day, peace day, and liberation day.
The Nepal Christian Federation has been marking this day with enthusiasm in Nepal since 2063 BS. This year, a Christmas Festival-2025 is being organized, featuring the participation of government representatives, dignitaries, and human rights defenders in the federal capital, Kathmandu.
The government has declared today a public holiday. Key locations such as Thamel, Baudha, Pokhara, and Sauraha are hosting special gatherings to celebrate Christmas Day in Nepal. The Federation states that there are approximately 3 million Christians and over 13,000 churches across the country.
