Kathmandu: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has issued a public notice urging residents and visitors to refrain from engaging in activities prohibited by law during the Deepawali celebrations.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the office has specifically requested individuals to exercise caution while using candles and electric lights for illuminating homes and business premises throughout the Tihar festivities. The administration has also prohibited the buying, selling, transporting, storing, or using of firecrackers and any other explosive or inflammable materials for firework purposes.
The public notice emphasizes the importance of conducting traditional Deusi-Bhailo programs in a dignified, disciplined, and organized manner, restricting these activities to no later than 9 PM. It advises that these celebrations should be carried out in a manner that avoids public complaints and disturbances, ensuring a peaceful Deepawali festival.
The notice underscores that Deusi-Bhailo performances should not obstruct public traffic on roads and prohibits setting up ritualistic puja mandaps or Deepawali festival grounds that could hinder public movement in public places, footpaths, or roads.
Furthermore, the District Administration Office has warned against illegal transactions and fraud related to lotteries, gambling, online shopping, and electronic means. It has also highlighted the need for compliance with traffic regulations, advising against carrying more passengers than a vehicle’s capacity, driving under the influence, overcharging fares, and other traffic violations.
