Kathmandu: The Election Commission has officially assigned election symbols to the political parties registered for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026. This crucial step comes with just 87 days remaining until the election day.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Election Commission received applications from 120 political parties wishing to contest in the HoR elections. Out of these, 102 political parties have been provided with individual election symbols. Additionally, 12 political parties that opted to jointly participate in the election have been granted a joint election symbol.
In total, the Commission has allocated 107 election symbols, reflecting the participation of 114 political parties in the upcoming election. This development is part of the preparation process as the Commission gears up for the elections, ensuring that all registered parties are equipped with their symbols. Currently, there are 143 political parties registered with the Election Commission.
