Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on all political parties to participate in the election process leading up to the March 5 elections to the House of Representatives. In a meeting held at Singha Durbar today between the Election Commission, political parties, Gen-Z representatives, and stakeholders, she made it clear that if all parties come together no negative element will be able to incite violence in the country. “Many are concerned about the security arrangements regarding the elections. The government is working to create a complete secure environment. If all political parties move forward together, none can disturb law and order.”
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Karki also urged the parties that are not participating in the elections to come to the election process for peace and democracy. Stating that if all 114 political parties of the country unite, there will be no possibility of unrest in the country, Prime Minister Karki called on the parties, Gen-Z representatives, civil society, media, and civil servants to join hands to maintain peace in the country.
She advised the public to refrain from expressing anger on every issue, warning against pushing the country into difficult situations. She emphasized the importance of utilizing the available time to participate in the election process.
Prime Minister Karki acknowledged that the incidents of September 8 and 9 were due to past mistakes, leading to emotions and criticism directed at the government. She stressed the need for the government and political parties to seriously consider the message being conveyed to the public and the purpose of change.
She highlighted the importance of understanding the change sought by the young generation, stating that the people desire change, and thus, all including political parties must self-correct. Prime Minister Karki emphasized the readiness to endure criticism for the country’s sake, urging everyone to set aside personal interests to maintain peace and stability, which is beneficial for the country and its people.
