Farmers in Bokhim Concerned Over Wind Damage to Akabare Chilli Crop

Bokhim: Farmers in Bokhim of Bhojpur are expressing concern after strong winds accompanying recent rainfall caused significant damage to their chilli cultivation.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the heavy winds have knocked down many blooming Akabare chilli plants, raising alarms among local farmers. Local farmer Kumar Bista highlighted the extent of the damage, noting that the loss of these crops could have serious economic repercussions for those who rely on chilli cultivation as a primary source of income.

In Bokhim, chilli farming is a commercial enterprise, with farmers employing modern technologies to enhance production. However, the recent wind damage adds to a growing list of challenges faced by these farmers. Apart from natural disasters, they are also dealing with issues like root rot, yellowing of leaves, and fruit infestations, which have become more prevalent in recent times.

Commercial chilli cultivation is not limited to Bokhim; it extends to other areas such as Pokhare, Bhainshipankha, and various parts of Bhojpur Municipality. The cumulative effect of these challenges is becoming a significant concern for the agricultural community in the region.
