Fascist AL Govt Criticized for Snatching Voting Rights: Salauddin Tuku

Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku today accused the Awami League (AL)-led government of undermining democratic principles by taking away the people’s right to vote during its 15-year rule. Tuku made these remarks while addressing an award distribution ceremony and pitha festival at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park in the district town, where he served as the chief guest.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hasina, the government has transformed into a dictatorship by not valuing the voices of its citizens. He highlighted the importance of reform and mentioned that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has proposed a 31-point reform outline aimed at guiding Bangladesh towards development and prosperity.

The event also featured speeches from former District BNP Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu and District Jubo Dal Convener Khandaker Rashedul Alam. Earlier in the day, Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the pitha festival. As part of the festival activities, 30 meritorious students who gained admission to various cadet colleges across the country were given a helicopter ride.
