Kathmandu: Youths of the Gen-Z group organized a peaceful gathering at Maitighar today on the occasion of Constitution Day. They emphasized that no one is above the constitution and that the solution to the country’s current issues should be sought within its framework.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the speakers at the event expressed that the country should progress by adhering to the constitution, which would create an environment where only capable candidates are elected in the upcoming election. Advocate Hari Prasad Bhatta highlighted the need for systemic reform in accordance with the constitution, stressing that improvements are possible without deviating from constitutional principles, as many Gen-Zers have made sacrifices for reforms.
Bhatta noted the importance of discussing the constitution’s shortcomings and the necessary improvements as Constitution Day is observed in a new context. He clarified that they do not seek changes that would bypass the constitution.
Similarly, advocate Manish Khanal reaffirmed that no one is beyond the constitution and stressed the importance of proceeding within the supreme law of the land. Khanal remarked that while there have been attempts to suggest that Gen-Z protests could quickly overturn constitutional provisions, this is not feasible. He warned of a transitional period and the potential for conspiracies during this time, urging vigilance to prevent such occurrences.
The youths emphasized the need for collective progress to fulfill the youth’s aspirations for change.
