Goods Worth Amounting to Rs 8.6 Million Confiscated.


Karmaiya: The Sarlahi Police on Wednesday seized a truck and a container carrying goods illegally imported via the Bagmatii check post at Karmaiya. A police squad from the Area Police Office, Karmaiya intercepted a truck (Province 1-01-001 Kha 4190) loaded with Chinese garlic, with items exceeding the invoice by Rs 2 million 75 thousand 527.

According to National News Agency Nepal, a container (Na 7 Kha 9465) destined for Birtamode in Jhapa from Birgunj, transporting illegally imported motor parts, was also impounded. Police recovered motorcycle parts, tyres, and other items such as utensils and ready-made clothes that were not listed on the invoice.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Shrestha, spokesperson for the District Police, stated that the confiscated goods were valued at Rs 8.66 million. The illegally-imported items were sent to the Revenue Investigation Office in Pathlaiya for further investigation and action.
