Kathmandu: The government has decided to recall Nepali ambassadors from 11 different countries. Today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers resolved to bring back the Nepali resident ambassadors stationed in China, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel revealed the names of the ambassadors being recalled. They include Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Oli from China, Dr Shail Rupakheti from Germany, Professor Dhan Prasad Pandit from Israel, Dr Netra Prasad Timilsina from Malaysia, Ramesh Chandra Poudel from Qatar, Jung Bahadur Chauhan from Russia, Naresh Bikram Dhakal from Saudi Arabia, Sanil Nepal from Spain, Chandra Kumar Ghimire from the United Kingdom, Lokdarshan Regmi from the United States, and Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi from Japan.
Additionally, the cabinet has approved a grant of USD 10 million from the World Bank’s ‘Multidonor Trust Fund’ aimed at the Public Finance Management Project. In other decisions, the government will establish two joint companies with India’s Power Grid Corporation Limited to construct the Inaruwa-Poorniya and Dodhara-Bareilly 400 kV inland transmission lines, with planned capital investments of Rs 1 billion and Rs 2 billion from the Nepal Electricity Authority.
The Council of Ministers also approved the Mutual Legal Aid Treaty between Nepal and India, enabling negotiations for similar treaties on criminal matters with other countries. Furthermore, the master plan for the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground Project in Kirtipur has been designated as a national priority, and bids for the remaining work will be invited.
Promotions were also on the agenda, with Jitendra Babu Thapaliya of the Nepal Judicial Service Group being promoted to the Gazetted Special Category and appointed as Secretary of the Council. Similarly, Acting Deputy Attorney General Uddhav Prasad Pudasaini has been promoted to the Special Class and assigned as Secretary of the Commission of Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons.
