Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has stressed that Nepal needs to continue its efforts for reducing the maternal and child mortality rates to zero. Highlighting Nepal’s achievement in reducing these mortality rates in recent years, the Health Minister pledged to prioritize budget allocation for the health sector, with a focus on obstetrics and gynecology.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during the inauguration of the Maternal and New Born Health Simulation Lab operated by the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Thapathali, Minister Paudel emphasized the importance of sustaining the lab’s effectiveness and expanding it to the province level. The lab, located at the Hospital’s Kupandole branch, was established with the support of One Heart Worldwide and aims to enhance the knowledge and clinical efficiency of maternal and neonate health service providers.
Secretary at the Health Ministry, Hari Prasad Mainali, highlighted the need for attention to the effective operation of the facility, acknowledging the challenge of limited human resources to manage it. He remarked on the importance of the lab’s sustainability in the long term.
