Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) central member and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, has criticized the trend of irresponsible comments made by party members, describing it as an unwelcome practice. During a meeting and interaction with party cadres organized by the NC Ilam at Shree Antu, she highlighted the increasing trend of reckless statements and the prevalence of accusations and counter-accusations within the political sphere, particularly within the Nepali Congress.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr. Rana expressed concern that such statements may attract media coverage but ultimately harm the party, leading to frustration among party cadres at both central and local levels. She emphasized the necessity of integrating and strengthening the party to establish it as the ‘largest party’ in the forthcoming general election.
Dr. Rana advised party members to resolve any disagreements internally rather than publicly arguing over issues. Acknowledging the efforts of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, she noted that the NC became the largest party in the latest local and parliamentary elections. She asserted that the party would compete without any electoral alliances in upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for increased efforts to gain voters’ trust.
Highlighting the role of women, Dr. Rana called for increased proportional participation of women within the party, acknowledging the challenges women face in seeking political space. She urged women to actively explore political engagement and leadership opportunities.
The Minister also pledged her support for the greater development of Ilam.
