Kathmandu: The judicial custody of 23 individuals, including Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra and medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, has been extended for an additional five days. This extension is part of ongoing investigations into alleged crimes against the state and organized crime.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Kathmandu District Court granted the extension following a request from the authorities. Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, confirmed that the extension aims to further the investigation into the alleged offenses.
The individuals are being investigated not only for crimes against the state and organized crime but also for criminal offenses. The investigation gained momentum following a violent protest on March 28 in Tinkune, Kathmandu. The protest resulted in two fatalities and left dozens injured, with significant damage to both government and private properties under the banner of a pro-monarchist movement.
