Sankhuwasabha: The landslide and flood triggered by rainfall on Thursday night have disrupted transportation, electricity, and telephone services in Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality-4 of Sankhuwasabha district. Vice Chairperson of the rural municipality, Laxmi Chapagain, reported that essential services, including electricity and telephone, were disturbed due to the flooding and landslide.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the rural roads have been damaged and electricity poles have been swept away. The under-construction Sabhapokhari Hydropower project of 21 MW has also sustained damage from the landslide, with construction materials being swept away by the flood.
Furthermore, more than half a dozen households have been displaced. Vice Chairperson Chapagain mentioned that efforts have begun to collect details of the displaced persons and the damages incurred to the settlements. However, heavy rainfall is making it difficult to gather exact details.
