PM Oli Hands Over NDC-3 to COP29 President Babayev

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has handed over the Third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC-3) to Mukhtar Babayev, representative of the President of Azerbaijan and President of COP29, to disseminate a positive message at the Sagarmatha Sambaad.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during the inaugural session of the highly anticipated Sagarmatha Sambaad, Prime Minister Oli officially unveiled the NDC-3 and presented it to Babayev. The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday had approved the NDC draft, which was prepared by the Ministry of Forests and Environment, in line with the Paris Agreement established during the COP-21 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Nepal developed the NDC in accordance with the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement, which mandates that all party countries submit their NDC every five years. Nepal had previously submitted its first NDC in 2016 and the second in 2020. The NDC-3 was approved with the intention of submitting it by 2025.

The draft prepared by Nepal includes sustainable goals, mobilization of both domestic and international financial sources, and a climate implementation plan extending to local levels, covering the period up to 2035.
