Lawmaker Gurung Demands Investigation into Political Leaders’ Properties

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dhanaraj Gurung has called for the creation of a high-level committee to investigate the property details of leaders and employees who have been in office since 2046 BS (1990). Gurung made this demand while expressing his views on the government’s newly introduced policies and programs for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS (2025-26).

According to National News Agency Nepal, Gurung emphasized that an investigation into the properties owned by political leaders and employees through a powerful body is crucial in preventing corruption and ensuring good governance. He pointed out that properties with unknown sources should be confiscated.

The lawmaker expressed his support for the government’s policies and programs, which were presented by President Ramchandra Paudel at the joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 2. He noted that the document is open for amendments based on consensus.

Gurung also highlighted the necessity of forming an all-party committee to initiate the constitutional amendment procedures. He urged political parties to reach a consensus for national development, putting aside their political ideologies.
