Kathmandu: This year’s Ram Babu-Gyanu Social Service Award has been bestowed upon the Manab Kalyan Samaj (Service Home), headquartered in Bhaktapur. The award was presented by Kedar Bhakta Mathema, former Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, to Sumitra Chaulagai, also known as Sumi Manab, the founder of the organization. The award includes a monetary prize of Rs 200,000 and was conferred during a special ceremony held in Kathmandu today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the service home, located in Jhaukhel of Changunarayan municipality-2, was acknowledged for its meaningful contributions to social service. The recognition comes from the Ram Babu-Gyanu Social Service Award Fund, which aims to honor organizations making a difference in the community.
Furthermore, four additional social organizations were recognized with awards of Rs 100,000 each. These organizations include an orphanage in Budhanilkantha municipality-4, Kathmandu; a senior citizens’ protection facility in Bidur municipality-7, Nuwakot; a Chepang conservation center in Ratnanagar municipality-11, Chitwan; and the Tulasi Foundation (Tualasalaya Ashram) in Lalitpur metropolitan city-25, Lalitpur.
