Pokhara: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, has urged the contractor company to expedite the completion of the under-construction Muglin-Pokhara road. While inspecting the western section of the Prithvi Highway from Jamune to Pokhara, he instructed the construction company to adhere to the timeline and ensure smooth traffic flow.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during the inspection, Minister Ghising gathered information about the progress from Jamune to Pokhara and pledged support to resolve any issues hindering the project. The western section has achieved a physical progress of 59.76 percent and a financial progress of 47.80 percent in terms of road expansion.
Krishna Bahadur Kunwar, the Head of the project, reported that the first layer of asphalt has been laid in one direction on 37.4 km of the 48.88 km stretch. A four-lane asphalt road has been completed on 29.61 km, and a two-lane asphalt has been finished on 7.79 km. Out of the 12 bridges in the section, 11 have been constructed, with one bridge over the Seti River still under construction.
Kunwar also noted that in the last fiscal year, 23.08 km of the targeted 25 km were upgraded to four lanes. Furthermore, the project office revealed that 65 out of 66 culverts have been built, and 45.2 km out of the planned 51.5 km drainage system has been completed.
The agreement with the construction company was signed on May 17, 2021, with the project, costing Rs 7.40 billion, slated for completion by December 31.
