Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel praised the unparalleled courage and determination of Nepalis, asserting that their drive to set records is unmatched globally. He made these remarks while inaugurating the ‘Non-Stop Marathon TV Talk Show’, an ambitious event aimed at breaking a Guinness World Record.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the event is spearheaded by young journalist Gaurav Poudel, who aims to conduct a continuous talk show for at least 100 hours, a feat that will be broadcasted by Prime Television. The inaugural interview of this marathon was conducted by Minister Kharel himself at the Skywalk Tower in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.
Minister Kharel expressed his best wishes to Poudel, highlighting the inherent talent and resilience of the Nepali people. He emphasized the nation’s capacity to achieve globally recognized feats, citing Tenzing Norgay’s historic ascent of Mt Everest with Edmund Hillary in 1953 as a testament to Nepali determination.
Journalist Rishi Dhamala and activist Durga Prasain also extended their best wishes to Poudel. The talk show aims to showcase the thoughts, caliber, and creative potential of Nepali youth on an international stage, thereby elevating Nepal’s global standing, explained Poudel.
The current Guinness World Record for the longest television talk show was set in April 2013 by then-journalist Rabi Lamichhane, who broadcasted for over 62 hours. Poudel is determined to surpass this record with his marathon talk show.
