NA Meeting: Evaluation of Government Based on Its Performance


Kathmandu: Members of the National Assembly have shared that they would provide constructive support to the newly formed government. In the meeting of the NA held on Thursday, Krishna Prasad Sitaula of the Nepali Congress congratulated the new government and made it clear that the NC would fully support the government if it worked in favour of people. He mentioned, “The government will be evaluated based on its activities.”



According to National News Agency Nepal, Madan Kumari Shah Garima of the Nepali Communist Party criticized the 100-point governance reform plan introduced by the government as incomplete, emphasizing the importance of the federal democratic republic achieved through people’s sacrifices. Similarly, Prem Dangal of the CPN (UML) stressed the need for the government to focus on improving the living standards of the people while also strengthening nationality and unity. He congratulated the newly formed government but raised objections to the arrest of leaders based on the Karki Commission’s report.



Puja Chaudhary of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal supported the government’s initiatives for good governance, specifically praising efforts to control corruption. Meanwhile, Mahantha Thakur of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal highlighted ongoing issues such as unemployment, reminding members that the republic system was achieved through struggle.



Tul Prasad Bishwokarma of the Rastriya Janamorcha demanded a fair investigation into the Karki Commission, claiming its investigation was biased. During the session, NA Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal read a letter from the Office of the President regarding the formation of the cabinet and assignment of responsibilities. Chair Dahal announced that the election for the Vice-Chairperson of the NA is scheduled for April 6, with the election of the chairperson of the thematic committees on April 7.



The NA will reconvene at 12:15 pm on April 5.
