Kathmandu: The Election Commission has designated polling stations and centers for the upcoming National Assembly member election scheduled for January 25. The Commission finalized these arrangements today, as announced by Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. The designated polling stations cover all seven provinces, with specific locations determined in the districts serving as the capitals of these provinces. Each designated polling center will host two polling stations.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the voting process will be conducted by an electoral college comprising provincial assembly members, rural municipality chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, as well as municipal mayors and deputy mayors. Polling station ‘A’ is assigned for provincial assembly members, while polling station ‘B’ is allocated for rural municipality chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, along with municipal mayors and deputy mayors.
The provincial polling stations have been allocated as follows: the Provincial Election Office premises in Biratnagar for Koshi Province; the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Mithila Cultural Center in Janakpur, Dhanusha for Madhesh Province; the Bhutan Devi Secondary School in Hetauda, Makawanpur for Bagmati Province; and the Provincial Election Office premises in Pokhara, Kaski for Gandaki Province. Additionally, the Lumbini Province Employee Meeting Center in Ghorahi, Dang has been designated for Lumbini Province; the Provincial Election Office premises in Birendranagar, Surkhet for Karnali Province; and the Provincial Election Office premises in Dhangadhi, Kailali for Sudurpaschim Province will serve as polling stations for electing members to the vacant posts in the Upper House.
