Kathmandu: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has expressed serious concerns over the government’s decision to recall ambassadors, highlighting that the issue is currently under consideration in the Supreme Court.
According to National News Agency Nepal, NBA General Secretary Kedar Prasad Koirala issued a press release today emphasizing the gravity of the situation. The release outlined concerns about the government’s move to recall ambassadors to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Supreme Court is deliberating on the matter and has issued an interim order.
The press release further stated, “Actions that indirectly ignore court rulings or orders promote arbitrariness. We sincerely appeal to all concerned not to engage in any activity that would undermine trust in the court while requesting the compliance with court orders or judgments, in letter and spirit.”
The NBA stressed the importance of adhering to court decisions and orders, suggesting that while scholarly discussions on such matters are healthy, compliance is imperative. The association underscored that, based on constitutional provisions, constitutionalism, the concept of an independent judiciary, and Article 128 (4) of the Constitution, any action resulting in an outcome different from a court order constitutes contempt of court and undermines the rule of law.
