Kathmandu: The National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ Nepal) on Sunday honoured five professional photojournalists on the occasion of the Forum’s 28th annual general meeting. The Harigopal Pradhan Photo Journalism Awards were given to individuals in five different genres, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the field.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chancellor of Fine Arts Academy, Naradmuni Hartamchhali, presented the awards to the distinguished photojournalists. Nabin Babu Gurung received the Courageous Photo Journalism Award, while Uddhab Shrestha was honoured with the Eco-Tourism Photo Journalism Award. Subas Mukhiya Sunuwar took home the Entertainment Photo Journalism Award, Chandrakala Chhetri was recognized with the Cultural Photo Journalism Award, and Shankar Bhujel was awarded the Sports Photo Journalism Award.
During the event, Chancellor Hartamchhali emphasized the role of photography as a medium of communication in society. NFPJ Nepal Chairman Pradipraj Onta expressed a commitment to making the organization more inclusive and effective, with a focus on capacity building.
The ceremony also included the presentation of the Madhav Thapa Courageous Photo Journalism Prize-2082 to NFPJ Secretary Prabin Kulung Rai, and the Institutional NFPJ President Award-2082 to NFPJ Vice Chairman Sunil Sharma.
