No Choice But to Prove Nepal Has a Future: NC Gen-Secy Thapa

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) General-Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa asserted that there was no alternative to work in a manner that dispels the narrative that the country does not have a future. General-Secretary Thapa delivered the statement at a book launching ceremony of ‘Sandaju’, a novel based on the life of late leader BP Koirala by Subash Ghimire here today.

According to National News Agency RSS, Thapa stated that it is the responsibility of the Nepali Congress to instill hope among the people, expressing concern over the increasing exodus of youths to foreign lands due to the perception that Nepal lacks a future. He urged everyone to strive towards finding a solution to this crisis rather than getting entangled in minor issues. “We do not have the luxury to flee, there is no alternative to giving an outlet to the crisis,” he emphasized.

Thapa noted the despair and discontentment among the party’s cadres despite the Nepali Congress holding positions in all three tiers of government. “It is not the power or government’s leadership that matters to the Nepali Congress. Otherwise, even as the largest party in the country, why aren’t we (cadres and leaders) excited and enthused?” Thapa remarked, posing a serious point to ponder.

He highlighted the necessity for the Nepali Congress to emerge as a national force. “The national force should be able to feel the pulse of the country and should possess the capability to address the problems plaguing the country,” he argued.

The NC general-secretary acknowledged the challenges in penning the new novel on the late leader Koirala and appreciated the writer’s effort to come up with this creation in light of many books that have already been written on the late democratic leader. “It is indeed challenging to write a novel linking Koirala’s real anecdotes to fictional characters,” the leader said, adding that the book provides insights not only to those subscribing to democratic ideals but to those with other beliefs.

Likewise, writer Ghimire believed that his novel would introduce BP Koirala as a literary figure and a humanitarian thinker. “I have written this novel being inspired by the multifaceted personality of BP Koirala, known for his literary prowess and political acumen,” he divulged, expressing his happiness over the appreciation and positive feedback for the newly unveiled novel.

The novel launching ceremony was organized by Global Women Network and Jaya Nepal International Foundation.
