Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has declared that it is the collective responsibility of all professionals to strengthen the democratic republic, which was achieved through the relentless struggle of the people after the failure of the autocratic monarchic regime to deliver development and good governance.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli, while inaugurating the fifth general convention of the Nepal Health Professional Federation, called on all parties to contribute towards enhancing the democracy and its achievements, which were realized through collective efforts. He highlighted that such organizations could not have been established under the previous autocratic regime, and now professionals are advancing with both professional and national obligations.
PM Oli acknowledged the recent republic celebrations on May 29, noting that pro-monarch factions exercised their democratic right to protest. He emphasized that the focus should now be on steering the nation towards good governance and development. He encouraged the public to compare the progress and changes observed during the approximately 240-year monarchic regime with those achieved under the democratic and republican system.
Reiterating the importance of defending the republic, PM Oli underscored the necessity for all citizens to unite in protecting the system that emerged from the people’s struggles. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to delivering quality and accessible healthcare, urging health professionals to ensure affordable services.
“The health sector has witnessed significant changes. I wish the Federation to play an active role in devising preventive measures to tackle health issues,” PM Oli remarked.
