Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki conveyed her best wishes to two chess players who are traveling to Doha, Qatar, to compete in the World Chess Championship. During a meeting with players Sushrut Dahal from Jhapa and Ashish Phuyal from Dolakha at her official residence, Baluwatar on Thursday, PM Karki extended her best wishes. “Compete in a manner that elevates Nepal’s image in the global arena,” she wished.
According to National News Agency Nepal, players Dahal and Phuyal emphasized the significance of Nepal’s involvement in this event, marking a milestone in the country’s chess history spanning six decades. They pledged to perform well in the matches, representing Nepal in the Rapid and Blitz categories of the championship for the first time.
The competition is scheduled to take place from December 25 to 31, showcasing top chess talents from around the globe.
