Kathmandu: Preparations have begun to shift the Ministry of Health and Population to the Singha Durbar premises.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki stated that six temporary prefab structures will be constructed on land owned by the Nepali Army’s Narsing Battalion, situated toward the southeast of the Singha Durbar area.
The construction work is set to commence once the Nepali Army battalion relocates to its own building in the northern part of the area. The relocation is anticipated to occur within the next two weeks, likely by the first day of the month of Mangsir (November 17).
Additionally, the Ministry is contemplating moving into the building currently occupied by the Parliament Secretariat, should it be allocated after the new parliamentary building within Singha Durbar is completed. The existing building of the Ministry at Ramshahpath suffered severe damage during an arson incident on September 9, which took place amid the Gen Z protest held on September 8-9. Currently, the Ministry is operating from a new building of the National Health Research Council located next to the damaged building.
