President Urges Government to Prioritize Upcoming Election


Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has advised the government to focus exclusively on organizing the forthcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election, scheduled for March 5, 2026.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the President conveyed this directive while receiving the annual report of the National Security Council for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS at the Office of the President on Sunday. President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel stated that the President emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure that its duties do not interfere with the upcoming electoral process.



During the meeting, President Paudel instructed security agencies, including the Nepali Army, to prioritize security concerns and enhance their readiness. He also expressed optimism about the National Security Council’s ability to operate more effectively by assessing potential new security challenges.



The report was presented to the President by Prime Minister and Chair of the National Security Council, Sushila Karki.
