Public Holiday Declared in Madhes Province for Sita Jayanti

Madhes Province: The Madhes Province Government has announced the addition of a new public holiday to its official calendar. This decision is reflected in the gazette published earlier by the province government.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the announcement was made through a notification issued by Ganesh Nayak, the under-secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Communications and Law. The notification, dated May 4, declared a public holiday in Madhes Province on Tuesday, May 6, in observance of Janaki Nawami (Sita Jayanti). In addition, another public holiday has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, to mark Kabir Das Jayanti.

The inclusion of these holidays aligns with the government’s efforts to recognize culturally significant events within the province. The gazette was initially published on April 4, outlining the province’s official public holidays. The recent notification ensures that both Janaki Nawami and Kabir Das Jayanti are formally acknowledged with a day off for residents in the region.
