RSP President Pledges Commitment to Transformational Governance

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has vowed to honor the electoral mandate entrusted to his party by the public by diligently fulfilling their responsibilities. In a significant address at the inaugural session of the House of Representatives, Lamichhane emphasized that the vote given to them was not for maintaining the status quo at Singha Durbar, but to instigate substantial change, a process that he assured has already commenced.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during his speech, Lamichhane underscored the necessity of action over rhetoric, urging his party members to validate their positions through tangible work. He expressed the intent for Parliament to serve as a forum for constructive debate rather than revenge, affirming that the opposition would not be subjected to unjust treatment and that efforts towards good governance would remain unimpeded.

Lamichhane firmly stated that legislation would no longer be manipulated to shield political allies or target adversaries. Addressing the recent arrests of former Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, he maintained that justice should be prioritized for the families of martyrs, dismissing claims of the arrests being acts of retribution.

The RSP President reiterated his commitment to fostering a fair and professional environment, particularly easing the burdens faced by the private sector from middlemen and mafias. He assured there would be no discrimination based on ethnicity or gender and pledged to prioritize the welfare of senior citizens and the educational and health needs of children.

Expressing expectations for those in politically appointed public positions to resign voluntarily, Lamichhane clarified that future appointments would be made based on legal and meritocratic criteria. He also highlighted that ambassadorial appointments would be driven by national interest rather than external influences, ensuring a focus on the needs of workers.

Finally, Lamichhane articulated a vision for Nepal’s economic growth through the involvement of non-resident Nepalis, leveraging their capital, skills, and discipline. He concluded by advocating for a transparent and amicable foreign policy, developed in collaboration with the opposition.
